MNF Recap: Wentz Leads Eagles to Convincing Win Against the Redskins

Eagles QB Carson Wentz did it all last night.

He completed 17 of 25 passes for 268 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 INT for a QBR of 126.3. He also ran the ball 8 times for 63 yards. Is there anything he cannot do ?

His MVP like performance so far this year has taken the league by storm. If the elite quarterbacks in this league ( Brady, Rodgers) had the same record and stats as youngster Carson Wentz, there would be no discussion or debate as to who the MVP award would go to. That’s how good the Eagles QB is playing.

His houdini like scrambles ( see below) add a dimension to a solid air attack that most teams do not have. Wentz can make all the throws and his escapability is unmatched.

The Redskins did have an early 10-3 lead. That’s when Wentz connected on a 64 yard bomb to rookie WR Mack Hollins. A 4 yard touchdown pass to TE Zach Ertz right before halftime seemed to demoralize the Redskins, and they never had a shot after that.

Only negative from this game for the Eagles is that they did lose two impotant members of their team to season ending injuries. LT Jason Peters and LB Jordan Hicks are both our for year.

Philadelphia is sitting pretty atop the NFC East at 6-1. Only time will tell if they can keep the pedal to the metal and finish off the year as strong as they have started.
