Steelers should just cut Martavis Bryant and move on

Some players turn out to be team cancers and unnecessary distractions. That’s exactly what Martavis Bryant is turning out to be. There were reports last week that he wanted out because he wasn’t happy about his role in the offense.

So he came out denying these reports and saying he was fully committed to the 2017 Pittsburgh Steelers.

Then his girlfriend tweeted the following :

On Sunday, the disgruntled receiver caught only 1 ball for 3 yards. Seemingly upset, he let his emotions get the best of him and replied to a fan who taunted him on social media by saying, “JuJu is nowhere near better than me, fool. All they need to do is give me what I want and y’all can have JuJu and whoever else.”

He quickly deleting the comment and replaced it with, “JuJu is the future and got great talent and is going to be one of the best to play this game. I want him to get his. I just want mines, period, point-blank. Ain’t nobody did nothing to get me back. I worked my ass off to get myself back with no help and little support, period. In due time the process will show.”

Then, on Monday, Bryant called in sick , thus missing team meetings.

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Steelers “certainly” have no plans to trade him but at this point, they should just cut their losses with this guy and move on. The team is finally playing good again and they do not need distractions like these. Players need to realize that, even if you get your wish and are cut or traded, the other teams take notice of this behavior and approach the situation with high caution.

A source close to the situation claims Bryant will play out his contract if not traded. It’s almost certain this is the receiver’s last year in Pittsburgh.
