The Kansas City Chiefs got back on track after losing two straight games. They dominated the Broncos 29-19 on Monday Night Football and the score doesn’t indicate the level of domination.
Alex Smith threw for 202 yards and a touchdown but he did not need to do more. Travis Kelce was the star of the night finishing with 7 catches for 133 yards and 1 touchdown. The run game was working and the Chiefs usually bad defense was up for the challenge. One of their scoring plays was a 45 yard fumble by Jamaal Charles that was returned for a touchdown by Marcus Peters.
The Chiefs have found a gem of a kicker in Harrison Butker who converted 5 of 5 Field Goals.
They probably would’ve beaten the Broncos by a higher score had it not been for a bonehead play call by coach Andy Reid. Up 14-0 in the first quarter, the coach got Cocky and called a halfback pass. WHY ? Sometimes these coaches over think and do not help their cause.
The Broncos offense had another bad game. Siemian finished 19 of 36 for 198 yards, one touchdown and 3 INT’s. The run game could not get going against a weak defense statistically.
Denver visits Philadelphia next week and Kansas City is in Dallas for week 9.
