To end week 9, we have a rivalry between two NFC North teams. The Detroit Lions travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers.
The Packers looked like Super Bowl contenders until their star QB Aaron Rodgers suffered a potentially season ending injury with a broken collarbone on October 15. They lost the following week at home to the Saints and had their bye week on week 8.
The Lions have lost three in a row. They also have issues. Offensively, Detroit is having a hard time finding the end zone. They are ranked 19th total offense while Green Bay is ranked 23rd.
Defensively, they’re ranked almost identically. Where Detroit has an advantage is rushing defence. They are ranked 6th and Green Bay 27th.
If Aaron Rodgers were to play in this one, this would be an easy pick.
Some facts about this game:
- The Packers swept the season series with the Lions in 2016, winning each game by 7 pts.
- Dating to 1992, Green Bay is 25-1 in its last 26 home games vs. Detroit.
- Green Bay is 3-1 at home this season and Detroit is 2-1 on the road.
We like Detroit to win this game. Brett Hundley has a lot of improving to do. Both defenses know the offenses well and the game will definitely be tight. The highest paid QB in the league should have an advantage over an unexperienced backup.
